Louisville Moves Down 9 Spots to #23 in AP Poll: Jan 16th, 2012

Illinois is ranked #22 in the AP Top 25 poll this week, and is one of two newcomers. Louisville drops like a rock this week, falling nine spots to #23.

Syracuse hangs on to number one for the fifth week in a row. Illinois enters the Top 25 with an upset win at home over then-5th ranked Ohio State, 79-74. Saint Mary's comes in at #24 with wins against Portland, 69-61, then-21st ranked Gonzaga, 83-62, and San Francisco, 87-72. Gonzaga falls out of the rankings this week with an upset loss at Saint Mary's and a win at Loyola Marymount, 62-58. Seton Hall drops out after a win against DePaul, 94-73 and a loss to South Florida, 56-55.

Louisville saw a big drop this week, falling nine spots to #23 after an upset loss at Providence, 90-59 and a win at home over DePaul, 76-59. Michigan tanked seven spots to #20 after a win against Northwestern, 66-64 and a loss to Iowa, 75-59. Kansas State slipped 7 spots to #25 after losses to Oklahoma, 82-73 and then-4th ranked Baylor, 75-73.
