Valparaiso Wins 78-73 Over Detroit

In Valparaiso on February 2nd the Titans fell to the Crusaders in conference action, 78-73. Detroit kept it together early, and went into halftime up 45-36. Valparaiso was able to take it back in the second half for the win.

Some facts for this matchup: The RPI ranked Valparaiso as a much better team, #111 to #223. The Titans are not a tough team to beat on the road, and the Crusaders had momentum after winning 4 out of 5. This is a second meeting with the Crusaders this year and creates a regular season split after an earlier 73-71 loss.

Detroit lost statistical battles to Valparaiso in three pointers and defensive rebounding.

Defensive rebounding was a big problem for Detroit as Valparaiso chalked up 22 defensive boards compared to 17. Valparaiso added a game-critical 36 points in threes as Detroit managed 18.
