Kevin Van Wijk from Valparaiso has been selected for StatSheet's Horizon Player of the Week for January 16th. StatSheet's Horizon Freshman of the Week goes to Cleveland State's Anton Grady. And last but certainly not least, Valparaiso's Jay Harris has taken StatSheet's Horizon 6th Man of the Week.

Van Wijk led the all of the Horizon in scoring (23.0 pts per game) and free throws (6.0 per game). He also put up respectable numbers with 60% shooting and 6 rebounds per game. The Valparaiso junior marched the Crusaders to wins versus Youngstown State and Cleveland State.

Van Wijk led all scoring for the Crusaders with 23 points while adding 2 blocked shots in a 76-62 win over Youngstown State. In the next game he led all scoring with 23 points and added 3 blocked shots in a 72-66 victory over Cleveland State.

This is the first time this season that Kevin Van Wijk has been selected StatSheet Horizon Player of the Week. However, he has received an honorable mention. The runner-up this week is Tim Kamczyc, a junior from Cleveland State. Honorable mention goes to junior Ryan Broekhoff from Valparaiso. The highest ranking player from Detroit was Ray McCallum who finished ninth.

StatSheet Horizon Freshman of the Week: Cleveland State's Anton Grady

Anton Grady played an average of 19 minutes starting both games for Cleveland State. He bested all Horizon freshmen in rebounding (9.0 per game). In a 76-69 win over Butler, Grady chalked up 11 points and 8 rebounds. In a 72-66 loss to Valparaiso, he put up 9 points and 10 rebounds.

This marks the second time this season that Anton Grady has won the StatSheet Horizon Freshman of the Week. Kameron Woods from Butler grabs runner-up. Honorable mention goes to Reggie Arceneaux from Wright State.

StatSheet Horizon 6th Man of the Week: Valparaiso's Jay Harris

Jay Harris, a sophomore and a 6-2 guard, averaged 25 minutes over the two games for the Crusaders. In the win against Youngstown State, Harris got 9 points and 5 assists. After that, in the win over Cleveland State, he racked up 12 points and 4 assists.

This is Jay Harris's first StatSheet Horizon 6th Man of the Week award this season. Tony Meier, a senior forward from Milwaukee, is the runner up. Our own Eli Holman receives honorable mention. Detroit has yet to win StatSheet Horizon Player of the Week.
