Ryan Broekhoff from Valparaiso has earned StatSheet's Horizon Player of the Week award for January 2nd. Butler's Kameron Woods has been recognized as StatSheet Horizon Freshman of the Week. And finally, Tony Meier from Milwaukee has won StatSheet's Horizon 6th Man of the Week. Broekhoff had 50% shooting, 16.5 points per game, and 9.5 rebounds per game. The Valparaiso junior played a big role in a victory against Green Bay and an unfortunate loss to Milwaukee.

Broekhoff led scoring and rebounding for the Crusaders with 18 points and 12 rebounds in a 57-55 loss to Milwaukee. He followed that up by leading the team in rebounding with 7 and an additional 5 steals in a narrow 90-87 victory against Green Bay.

This is the first time this season that Ryan Broekhoff has been named StatSheet Horizon Player of the Week. However, he has finished second more than once and received an honorable mention. The runner-up this week is Youngstown State senior DuShawn Brooks. Honorable mention goes to Damian Eargle, a junior from Youngstown State. Eli Holman was the highest ranking player from Detroit, finishing 19th.

StatSheet Horizon Freshman of the Week: Butler's Kameron Woods

Kameron Woods averaged 22 minutes as a starter for Butler. His average in blocked shots (1.5 per game) led all Horizon freshmen. In a late 53-49 win over Green Bay, Woods rang up 10 points and 2 blocked shots. Then in a thin 54-50 win over Milwaukee, he dialed up 4 points and 7 rebounds.

This is the second StatSheet Horizon Freshman of the Week award for Kameron Woods. The runner-up is Roosevelt Jones from Butler. Keifer Sykes from Green Bay receives honorable mention.

StatSheet Horizon 6th Man of the Week: Milwaukee's Tony Meier

Senior Tony Meier, a 6-8 reserve forward, averaged 25 minutes over two games for the Panthers. In a close 57-55 win over Valparaiso, Meier took the lead in scoring for the Panthers with 17 points on 66% shooting. Then in a 54-50 loss to Butler, he racked up 8 points and 6 rebounds.

This is the first StatSheet Horizon 6th Man of the Week award for Tony Meier. Our own Eli Holman is runner up. John Balwigaire, a junior guard from Wright State, receives honorable mention. Detroit players have not yet been named StatSheet Horizon Player of the Week this season.
